Global City Forum

7-8 April 2009 | Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Global City is the only international networking forum where city leaders, mayors, political leaders and city executives can share strategies, methods and concrete solutions to help them implement their vision of a sustainable city and metropolitan region. After its three successful editions in France, this unique networking platform will be held in Abu Dhabi in April 2009 – for the first time in the Middle East. The event will be a platform to share experiences and expertise from Asian, European, African, Middle Eastern and American emblematic cities. UCLG ASPAC is one of associate partners of the Forum and its Secretary General Emeritus Mayor Peter Woods OAM will be one of the speakers.

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates has the spirit, substance and vision to be a global and sustainable city. The city is already an icon in the Middle Eastern region for sustainability and culture, and is a leading financial centre, a major industrial zone, and is enriched by a cosmopolitan population.

It is expected that Global City 2009 will gather world-wide recognition for Abu Dhabi as an emerging global city, while enabling participants from around the world to discuss and share experiences and new solutions in urban planning and development.

Global City is sponsored and supported by the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) and the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC).
