“A DISCUSSION ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCES & INFRASTRUCTURE AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION”

Jakarta, 4 May 2007

Under its Secondment Programme, UCLG ASPAC recently managed to facilitate a discussion between the second consultant of Local Government and Shires Associations of New South Wales/LGSA-NSW, Mr. Shaun McBride, with invited representatives of Mayors of Jakarta Municipalities and Head of Kepulauan Seribu Regency at UCLG ASPAC Secretariat, Sunter – North Jakarta, on 4 May 2007. The discussion was focusing on Local Government Finances & Infrastructure and Intergovernmental Cooperation.

During the discussion, both consultant and invitees were sharing their views on their current situation of Local Government Finances & Infrastructure.  In addition, they also learned the Local Government system/structure, both on New South Wales and Jakarta.  At the end of the session, positive response of the discussion came from the representative of Bureau of Inter Municipal Cooperation of Jakarta Province expecting that Jakarta could in the future further enjoy such productive discussion.
