Solidarity for Disaster Around Asia and Pacific

In the month of September 2009, Asia Pacific Region suffered by disasters happened almost at the same time. On 26 September, Typhoon Ketsana tore through the Philippines. On 29 September, an undersea earthquake sparked a series of tsunamis in Samoa, American Samoa and neighbouring Tonga, South Pacific’s Island. On the same day, Typhoon Ketsana reached Vietnam. On 30 September, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia's Sumatra island. All of the disasters have made huge loss of life and great numbers of homeless people.

As part of the Asia Pacific Region and the world citizen, UCLG ASPAC and UCLG World are conveying deep condolences to the affected local governments and urging members to support their recovery from the crisis.
