International Conference "Local Governments for Sustainable and
Safe Cities"
7-9 September 2009 | Cidade de Goa, Panjim, Goa, India
Developing
Sustainable and Safer Cities is what every country in the world
is looking forward to.
Sustainable development
is possible with social and structured economic transformation
(i.e. development) which optimizes the economic and societal
benefits available in the present, without jeopardizing the
likely potential for similar benefits in future. An integrated
and
holistic approach to urban development encompassing social,
environmental and economic dimensions is required to deal with
the challenges.
Sustainable and Safer cities are possible only through urban
good governance, appropriate urban management, and planning.
Sustainable and integrated urban development brings in the
crucial linkages between cities and their environment, at local,
metropolitan, regional, national and global levels. Keeping this
linkage in mind and sharing of best practices, All India
Institute of Local self Government is organizing a two day
